In this petition, we are praying to God that the kingdom of Christ will come and remain among us, both in this life and finally on the Last Day. We ask God that we will remain faithful and daily grow in His grace, so that many more will come to Christ’s kingdom. This petition shows that God wants us to ask not only for small cares and needs of life, but also for great things from Him. If God invites us to pray for such great and p 414 wonderful things as His kingdom of grace, surely He will provide also for our daily needs.

What Is God’s Kingdom?

The Kingdom of God is His ruling as King over the whole universe (Kingdom of Power);

“The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.” — Power
The Lord has established His throne in heaven,
And His kingdom rules over all
We don’t pray that this kingdom of power would come, because it’s already here, everywhere. Instead, we pray we pray that He would give us the Holy Spirit so that we believe His Word and lead a godly life.
“ The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” — Grace
Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God
We also pray that God would bring many others into this Kingdom of Grace.
and the Church in heaven (Kingdom of Glory).
And use us to extend His kingdom of grace.

and the Church in heaven (Kingdom of Glory).

“And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!” — Glory
And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!
“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”
Whatever is revealed.

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

We don’t pray that God Kingdom
A. It belongs to God. His reign. His grace. His mercy.
B. We find out about it through His Word.
C. It is a person: Jesus Christ.
Whatever is revealed.
Whatever is revealed.
What is the Kingdom. Not a place, but where God established His reigns of grace.
How It Comes to You

God’s Kingdom Reigns in Us.

We pray that it will happen with us; that His name may be praise in His Word and in our Christian lives that the Word may daily grow in us.
But, unfortunately, some are content with their own kingdoms they’ve created.
People are apt to put their trust in the kingdoms that they can see.
Others are so full of unbelief that they don’t even look to God for even the basic needs of life.
People are apt to put their trust in the kingdoms that they can see.
“Some trust in chariots and some trust in hoses, but we depend on the Lord our God.”

How God’s Kingdom Comes

God guarantees that the Means of Grace establishes and sustains His Kingdom.
“My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it
The New King James Version. (1982). (). Nashville: Thomas Nelson.
Jesus’ saying: The kingdom of God is like… (the grace of God)
“Ah Ha”
“Discovering God’s Will”
God wants us to have these “ah ha” moments where we continue to understand His will: e.g. Nathan coming to David to telling the story of the rich man taking a poor mans sheep to make dinner.
